Accessibility

This guide is for every Utah rider and parent, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across the site and the free checklist PDF.

How we check

  • Every change is tested before it goes live. Automated checks run the axe accessibility engine against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rules on every page, in light and dark mode, including every tab and the quizzes with answers filled in. A failure blocks the update.
  • Keyboard: everything works without a mouse, including the tabs (arrow keys) and quizzes, and a "Skip to content" link comes first on every page.
  • Without JavaScript: every page still shows its full content.
  • Zoom and small screens: pages reflow without sideways scrolling down to 320 pixels wide, the same as 400% zoom.
  • Contrast: text meets at least 4.5 to 1, in light and dark mode.
  • Images have text alternatives; decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.
  • The checklist PDF is tagged, with headings and bookmarks, so screen readers can navigate it. The checklist page has the same content as HTML.

Known limits

  • Official forms and sites we link to, such as the Tax Commission's PDF forms and city code websites, belong to those agencies and aren't ours to fix. If you can't use one, the Utah DMV can help at 801-297-7780 or 800-368-8824, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
  • Automated tools can't catch everything. A full review with screen readers is planned. Until then, please tell us about anything that gets in your way, and we'll fix it.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, or you'd like any of it in a different format, email corrections@utahemotoguide.com. Please tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within five business days.
