Riding gear

What to wear, what the label should say, and where to buy it.

Helmets

Utah requires a DOT-rated helmet for OHV riders under 18 on public land, and for anyone under 21 on a street-legal e-moto. Pick the helmet for the bike, not the other way round: an e-moto needs a motorcycle helmet, and a bicycle helmet isn't one.

Motocross helmet

E-motos on trails: Sur-Ron, Talaria, Drax and the like.

  • DOT label (FMVSS 218), required for riders under 18 on public land
  • ECE 22.06 or Snell M2020 for more testing
  • A peak and an open eyeport, so wear goggles with it
