What Sandy's rules say

Sandy doesn't allow off-road vehicles on public roads except to cross them or to load and unload. Only vehicles registered for the highway are exempt, so an OHV-only bike has to be trailered. The copy of the code we read was last amended in 2016, so confirm with the city.

Which registration you need

With OHV-only registration, you can't ride Sandy streets: trailer the bike to the trail. To ride streets here, make it street-legal and plate it.

Rules everywhere in Utah

City rules only cover streets. These apply in Sandy and everywhere else.

TrailsOnly trails and areas designated for OHVs or motorized use. Not mountain bike singletrack, hiking trails, or other non-motorized trails, even ones that allow e-bikes. Legally an e-moto is a motor vehicle, not a bicycle.

Kids and teensAge, license, and supervision rules depend on the bike. Check what your kid can ride.
