Fit
Who it fits, and what it's for
Fit is about use and body, not quality. A bike that fits can still be too much machine, so read the experience note before the spec table.
It's for
Ride roads, paths, gravel, and fields on a simple single-speed drivetrain with a two-speed motor.
Mount and dismount easily on a step-through frame.
Carry a second 20 Ah battery on the quick-release rack.
Terrain: Forest roads, Streets, Backyard and private land.
A hub motor and a single speed make it the easiest Bakcou to learn on. Start a new rider in Class 1 mode.
Not for
Steep mountain climbs. Bakcou says it "isn't meant for the extreme climbs that our mid-drive bikes can tackle."
Riders under 16 in Class 3 mode. Utah bars them from Class 3 e-bikes today.
Anyone who needs a confirmed Utah e-bike. Read the legal section first.
Experience: Beginner to Experienced.

What we still don't know.
Seat height, top speed, and weight capacity: Bakcou publishes none of them for this bike.
Whether the unlimited ODP setting Bakcou describes on the Mule SD page exists on this bike too.
We have not set a rider-height band. Sit on one at a dealer.

All figures are manufacturer claims from the Bakcou product page, checked November 7, 2026. We have not seen or ridden this bike. The motor is a Bafang RMG062A two-speed rear hub "rated at 750 W nominal." Weight is with the battery (67 lb without). Wheels are 26 inches, or 24 inches as an option.
Utah
Is it an e-bike in Utah?
An e-bike needs no title or registration in Utah, but only if it meets the state's definition. What the manufacturer says, what the statute says, and what happens if it doesn't qualify.

The manufacturer says
Bakcou says the Flatlander SD uses a hub motor "rated at 750 W nominal" and lists "ODP - Comprehensive 'On-Demand Program' for all classification selections."
What Utah law says
Unclear, but the closest of the Bakcou e-bikes. A 750 W rated motor is inside Utah's limit, and Utah allows a programmable e-bike that meets each class in each mode. What keeps it unclear is the same ODP system: Bakcou's Mule SD page says it can be set to unlimited, and Utah excludes a bike modifiable past 20 mph on the throttle.
If it doesn't qualify
If it doesn't qualify as an e-bike, Utah counts it as an electric motorcycle: it would need a title and OHV registration to ride public trails. An e-bike set past the maker's original speed or power settings is a "high power electric device" under the same statute.
Charges in about 4 to 5 hours on the included 52 V, 4 A charger, per Bakcou.
Warranty is one year from delivery, original owner only, per Bakcou.
Check the bike, not the label. Utah's limits are 750 watts, 28 mph with pedal assist, and 20 mph on the throttle alone. For how to tell, read E-bike or not. For age limits by class, see For parents.
